OpTecBB looks back on a successful MSPO 2026: Strengthening international cooperation in Photonics for Defence

OpTec-Berlin-Brandenburg (OpTecBB) successfully concluded its participation in the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO 2026) in Kielce, Poland. Over three days, the network showcased the strengths of the Berlin-Brandenburg photonics ecosystem, presented its international collaboration activities, and strengthened partnerships within the rapidly growing defence and security sector.

As part of the Polish Technological Platform on Photonics (PPTF) community booth, OpTecBB welcomed numerous visitors from industry, research, government and defence, creating valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and new international collaborations.

Throughout the exhibition, OpTecBB promoted the capabilities of its network and highlighted the importance of photonic technologies for future defence and security applications.
Beyond presenting its own activities, the team also actively promoted the Photonics Days 2026 in Berlin, inviting international partners and companies to continue the dialogue within Europe's photonics community this October.

A particular highlight of the exhibition was the Photonics 4 Defence Seminar, organized by PPTF, which brought together experts from across Europe to discuss the role of photonics in modern defence technologies.

During the seminar, Anastasia Janzen (OpTecBB) presented the BaltiQC Initiative, introducing the international network dedicated to advancing quantum communication cooperation across the Baltic Sea Region. The presentation generated strong interest and sparked valuable discussions on future collaborative opportunities between Germany, Poland and Lithuania.

OpTecBB would like to thank PPTF – Polish Technological Platform on Photonics for the excellent organization of the seminar and especially Igor Deryło for making this successful exchange possible.

MSPO 2026 demonstrated once again how important international partnerships are for strengthening Europe's technological sovereignty and innovation capacity. OpTecBB returns to Berlin with new contacts, inspiring ideas and promising perspectives for future cooperation.

The conversations that began in Kielce may continue at Photonics Days 2026—and perhaps even develop into new collaborations and joint projects.
