Bad Honnef Physics School

On behalf of the German Physical Society (DPG), I am delighted to announce the 2026 
Bad Honnef DPG Physics School Applied Photonics, open for registration. This is a unique opportunity for advanced Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral students, as well as early-career researchers, to engage with the world’s leading experts in photonics.
The program features keynote lectures by three Nobel Laureates: Stefan Hell (talk given by Volker Westphal), Donna Strickland, and Anne L’Huillier, whose groundbreaking work has shaped modern optics and laser science. The school brings together top researchers from leading universities, institutes, alongside with industry experts from global leaders. Together, they will cover cutting-edge topics such as super-resolution microscopy, ultrafast lasers, nanooptics, quantum technology, biophotonics, optical metrology, and insights into the quantum physics of animal navigation.
Following each session and during relaxed afternoon gatherings participants will have the unique chance to meet and discuss with our distinguished speakers — oVering a unique, informal setting to connect, exchange ideas, and build lasting professional relationships in a friendly, conversational environment.
Applications for up to 80 international participants are accepted on a first-come, firstserved basis. The participation fee is €200 for non-DPG members and €100 for students with DPG membership. This includes full board accommodation, meals, and excursions.
